Our History
Dircks was founded 20 years ago by brothers Rick and Chip Dircks. And what began as a household goods moving company developed over the years into the most diversified moving service in Arizona. From those humble beginnings, Dircks has grown into the largest moving company in the Phoenix area and is rated top 10 among Mayflower agents in the U.S.
Our 200,000 sq.ft. buildings in Phoenix are equipped with state-of-the-art moving and storage technology that keeps us on the cutting edge in the fields of warehouse management and delivery tracking. We’re continually improving our processes, services and expertise in order to provide the best possible experience for our customers.
Meet the Team
Chip Dircks
President
Chip Dircks began his career in the 1970’s as a mover and has learned the business from the ground up. Responsible for moving companies throughout the United States, Chip developed expertise in operations and administration. In 1990, he started Dircks Moving Services along with his brother Rick and is accountable for all of the company’s activities.
Chip is active in a number of industry related organizations. In May of 2009, he was named to the Board of Directors of UniGroup, Inc., the parent company of Mayflower Transit. He currently sits on the board of the moving industry’s trade group, the American Moving and Storage Association, and he is also on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Trucking Association. In addition, Chip is a member of the Ho Ho Kams, a civic organization in Mesa, and in 1998 he was awarded the Arizona Business Leadership Award from Arizona State University. Chip was recently elected Chairman of the AZ Transportation Education Foundation (ATEF) Board of Directors.
Chip lives in Chandler with his wife Patty and has one son, Matt.
Rick Dircks

Rick Dircks has been in the moving industry for nearly 30 years. In that time, Rick has worked in various sales and management positions throughout the western United States. Rick is responsible for all Sales and Marketing activities for Dircks and personally manages certain accounts.
Rick is very involved in industry and community entities. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for WESTMARC, the Arizona State University President’s Club, the Fiesta Bowl and the Better Business Bureau. In February of 2010, Rick was named Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee with the Board of Directors of the BBB and will assist the BBB of Central Arizona in their mission to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust.
Rick lives in Chandler with his wife Robin and children, Madison and Morgan.

Rich joined the Dircks Corporate Sales Team in May 2008. He has over 25 years of experience in the moving industry.
Rich is very involved in the community and is a member of the Arizona Association for Economic Development, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council and the Arizona Relocation Alliance.
He has a wife, Sherry, and 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Brandon Stephens

Brandon joined the Dircks Corporate Sales Team in September 2000 and is a graduate of The University of Iowa. One of the most interesting stories he has about the industry is when ancient artifacts were safely packed and stored in Dircks air-conditioned storage facility.
Brandon is a Rotary member and committee chair and is also in the Iowa Alumni Association. He is married with one child and two dogs.

Gary joined the Dircks Corporate Sales Team in November 2009 and is a graduate of Phoenix College. He has worked in the industry for about 18 years and handles electronic and high value equipment transportation. He and his wife Sandy have one son, Matthew. Their family also includes two dogs, Bailey and Cosmo, and a cat named Kiddie.

Chris joined the Dircks Corporate Sales Team in April of 2009. He has been in the moving industry for eight years, all of which have been with Dircks.
An interesting memory Chris recalls is unloading in Showlow, Arizona and he had to wait four hours in the truck for the snow to ease up before being able to drive just two blocks and unload that evening at the customer’s house.
He is heavily involved in the Arizona Association of Economic Development (AAED) and is also a volunteer baseball coach for the Cal Ripken Junior baseball league.
Chris is engaged and is to wed soon. He has two young children: Christopher and Amaya.
Kimber Watkins

Kimber brings one and a half years of moving experience to Dircks but more importantly 16 years of experience in transportation and warehousing. She coordinates all the office and industrial moves, as well as, the special product shipments. Kimber is a founding member of a Yahoo support group for parents of children with Type 1 Diabetes – .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) . Her family supports the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and has had a family support walk team for 6 years now called Rory’s Rascals. Her family also supports the American Diabetes Foundation (ADA) and she has personally met with herr local congressmen to discuss the importance of continuing to support nurses in all Arizona public schools. Her son, Rory, was diagnosed with T1D at the age of five and he is now 11 years old. Kimber also coach’s girl’s volleyball for the city of Goodyear.
Kimber is married with 2 children, 2 dogs and 3 ferrets.

Kristi has 25+ years in the moving industry primarily coordinating National Account Household Goods Shipments. For the last seven to eight years, Kristi has worked on the Commercial side of our business. Kristi takes great joy in having done pretty much every job in the moving industry from pack and loads to coordinating relocations.
She has two daughters, Marisa and Jesse, and 1 grandson, Anthony and a dog Troubles, who is a Boxer-Mastif mix. She enjoys spending time with her family as well as gardening and sewing.

Kim has been in the moving industry for over 28 years. In fact, it is the only industry she has worked in, starting with her parents moving company in Ohio.
She has plenty of stories about the industry, but one that has stuck in her mind was when she inherited a dog from a customer. Despite already having a dog, this new addition fits in very well with her family.
Kim is married to Gary Lange and together they have four children and two dogs, Giggie and Husker. Yes, Husker after the Nebraska Huskers. The Lange’s are big sports fans!

Kelly has 20 years of experience in logistics and supply chain, and one year in the moving industry. One of the most memorable moves for Kelly was when Dircks moved one of the most respected cancer researchers lab from Phoenix to Tucson including all of the researchers pathogens. The doctor was very worried as his life’s work was in the freezers Dircks moved. The Doctor could not have been happier with the move. Kelly is very involved in the community, being an elected official representing his community in Torreon located in Show Low, AZ. He is also a member of the local Phoenix Chapter of IFMA (International Facilities Management Association), and is involved in multiple local charities. Kelly and his wife have 3 children and a cat that keeps them busy.
Lorenzo Garcia

Lorenzo got interested in the moving industry when he was involved in an international move within the semiconductor industry. He was the project manger involved with all international moves and installation for Intel. He is involved with the city youth baseball program as a coach. He is also involved with the special needs sports program for the city of Surprise. He has been married to his wife Patricia for 16 years now, and they have three children (two boys and one girl) and one dog, a Chihuahua named Stewie.

Juli has been in the moving industry for about 20 years. She likes working with customers and hearing the different priorities and concerns each has about the move process.
She is very involved with a small group at her church, and they have volunteered at soup kitchens, raised donations for various charities and host toy drives.
Juli and her husband Jeff have two daughters Morgan and Carly, and two cats Sophie and Mocha.

Thomas has been with Dircks for six years and he currently handles Inside Sales, OA/DA Coordinator and Nationals Accounts Coordinator. He sets appointments, dates for deliveries and sells and recently began selling and book national account moves. Thomas began his Dircks career as a COD Coordinator. Thomas’ favorite moves involve professional athletes.
Thomas has a daughter named Melina and a dog named Hines, after NFL wide receiver Hines Ward.
Tom Baumgartner

After spending 25 years selling and implementing Information Technology software solutions in a variety of industries, Tom joined Dircks in June 2010 and spends his time covering the Southeast Valley. Understanding each customer’s unique requirements and working with the Dircks team to translate those requirements into a successful move provides Tom with a great sense of satisfaction.
Tom has been an active member of the local Little League Board for years and involved in coaching various Little League and travel baseball teams.
Tom and his wife Julie have three amazing sons and a houseful of pets. He enjoys reading, hiking, woodworking, construction, and fixing things.

Jim has over 38 years of experience in sales and marketing for the moving industry in the Phoenix area. Jim specializes in working with the senior communities in Sun City, Sun City West, Sun City Grand, Sun City Festival and Surprise. Jim really enjoy his clients especially when it comes to assisting them with formulating a move plan that will make yet another transition in their lives as easy and hopefully as stress-free as possible.
When not spending time with their kids and grandchildren, Jim and his wife Kay we have assisted their church with disadvantaged families in Granada Estates in the West Valley. They assist with house upkeep including yard work, painting, repairs etc. and also help provide transportation as needed.
Jim and Kay have been married for 28 years and have three beautiful children, two gorgeous daughters-in-law and three awesome grandchildren with one on the way.
